The Matco Tools Chevy Cobalt powered by a BorgWarner turbo sets new ET and speed records! 7.519 ET and 199.77mph! That's nearly 200 mph in a front wheel drive. Quote from Jason Hunt: Basically we wanted to do more testing and do a comparison to other comparable turbos, we had a 74mm GT-42 and 74mm Borg Warner, and found a 70mm GT-42 for comparison, but during the initial testing we managed to blow 4th gear, and the final drive out of our fresh rebuilt gsr tranny. So we did not get as much data as we would like. So take this info how ever you would like. We did test the same turbo we went 158mph against the Borg Warner 71mm. The turbo we used to run was a 72mm 81q trim. We went 158mph @ around 40 psi. Both turbos were tested around 35 psi, the Borg Warner came in a little sooner and held boost till the 9000 rpm cut off. We did not run any higher rpm or boost mainly because I hate doing it to the motor on a dyno. Basically we had 2 different exhaust housings for the Borg Warner, and only got to test the smaller of the 2 a 1.00, and a 1.10 housing. We also had a 1.15 for the Garrett. We wanted to give more info but this is what we have, the back pressure data is incomplete but promising. |
